Extracts from the authors:
Around the country, operators are being told they can open, and they are juggling:
- Essentially a full restaurant opening
- The full time job of navigating PPP, EIDL, FTE and other government acronyms.
- Sleepless nights pondering the existential question of ‘Should we even open?’- Researching, interpreting documents, and creating a plan for how to keep their staff and guests as safe as possible.
What we are doing, and would like you to be doing as well:
- Reviewing and analyzing federal and state best practices, with the eye of industry expertise, and working toward a guide/guides that makes sense for restaurants.
- Presenting one place for guidelines, resources, training materials, and templates that make it easier for operators to be able to make a plan to open in the best possible way for their staff and the public health.
- Collaborating and communicating with government and non.
- governmental organizations to get the guidelines adopted by states to make the most sense for operators, while also identifying and addressing interdependent topics and causes inherent in the process of reopening.
- Ensure a future where restaurants continue to be an essential part of the cultural fabric of our lives
What you can do:
- Review the resource, educate yourselves about what information is out there. Share with your teams and your communities, ask questions like ’who created this document?” and ’what’s next?’
- Support the work of your local organizations and of the Independent Restaurant Coalition.
As you move toward reopening, share your experiences opening your restaurants for others to reference - we’d love to add your restaurant-specific guides to this resource!
